During the eleven years I lived in Qatar, I became fascinated by the everyday interactions that pass us by in the rush of a city. We cross paths in coffee shops, sit in traffic, and pass each other on the street every day, yet we rarely stop to learn who someone actually is or where they came from. This book grew out of a simple desire to slow down and pay attention.
Each portrait is paired directly with the subject's own words, recording their honest thoughts on life, work, and belonging in a rapidly changing landscape. Together, they form an archive of a place that so many different people call home.
