Faces of Qatar Project
When I relocated to Qatar from London in 2011, I was struck by the country’s global population, yet the way people tended to remain within their community circles—an experience far removed from London’s interwoven cultural fabric.

“We're more alike than you think.”
- Doha News
Faces of Qatar.
Determined to bridge these divides, I launched the Faces of Qatar project to foster authentic connections across national lines and celebrate the shared humanity behind each story—what Doha News called “showing people we’re more alike than we think”.
Since its inception in 2016, I’ve continuously refined my approach, combining over 100 portrait sessions with in‑depth conversations to capture both visual and narrative authenticity.
All interviews and photo shoots are conducted in familiar settings, allowing participants to share traditions, personal histories, and aspirations in their own voices.
The Faces of Qatar project ignited conversations, demonstrating how visual stories can unite disparate communities. Local media outlets like Doha News have featured my project and applauded its power to unite us. Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Msheireb Properties, officially inaugurated a new permanent exhibition titled ‘A Journey to the Heart of Life’, located at Bin Jelmood House at Msheireb Museums, featuring several photos from my project.
Building on this momentum, I plan to compile these portraits and narratives into a published photo‑book—an enduring tribute to Qatar’s cultural tapestry and a bridge for deeper understanding.

Impact & Future Plans.
When I relocated to Qatar from London in 2011, I was struck by the country’s global population, yet the way people tended to remain within their community circles—an experience far removed from London’s interwoven cultural fabric. Qatar’s residents are among the most internationally diverse in the world, with expatriates making up nearly 90% of the population—an insight that drove home the need for genuine cultural exchange.
