Precision medicine and personalised healthcare to the national healthcare system
Qatar
Biobank.

Summary.
Qatar Biobank, part of Qatar Foundation, hosted its first conference at the Qatar National Convention Centre to explore how large-scale sample collection drives personalised healthcare.
Over two days, local, regional, and international experts—including Edward Abrahams, Ma’n H. Zawati, and Elio Riboli—delivered keynotes and led sessions on genomics policy, big-data infrastructure, and clinical biomarker discovery.
Shortly afterward, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser inaugurated the purpose-built Qatar Biobank facility at Hamad Medical City, marking the transition from pilot phase to fully operational biobank with capacity for tens of thousands of participants.
National Research Engine: By gathering blood, urine, saliva, and lifestyle data from the Qatari population, Qatar Biobank underpins research into regional health challenges such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Personalised Medicine Catalyst: Biobanks enable therapies tailored to each patient’s biomarkers. Qatar Biobank’s sample repository directly supports the Qatar Genome Project’s goal of precise diagnostics and individualised treatment plans.
Project Overview.
Importance of Qatar Biobank.
At Qatar Biobank’s inaugural conference, “Biobanking in the Context of Personalised Healthcare,” and the subsequent facility opening, my photography and drone footage wove a visual narrative that underscored Qatar’s leap into precision medicine. By capturing keynote addresses, panel interactions, candid networking, and the gleaming new laboratory spaces—and by elevating some moments with aerial perspectives—these images helped position Qatar Biobank at the forefront of national and regional efforts to tailor treatments based on individual biomarkers
Impact of My Photography.
Keynote & Session Storytelling: Wide-angle images of full auditoria and tight portraits of speakers conveyed both scale and passion, bringing home the urgency of personalised healthcare.
Leadership Engagement: Photographs of Her Highness Sheikha Moza, Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari, Chairperson of the Qatar Biobank Board of Trustees, interacting with staff and laboratory spaces reinforced top-level support for Qatar Biobank’s mission.
Multi-Channel Usage: These images formed the visual backbone of Qatar Foundation press releases, social media campaigns, and conference recaps, amplifying the narrative of Qatar’s pioneering role in personalised healthcare.
