Documenting the energy and emotion of a massive youth football tournament in Qatar. As the official photographer and social media officer, I captured everything from intense pitch action to the behind-the-scenes moments that helped shape the legacy of the 2022 World Cup.

01 // The Tournament

In 2016 and 2017, Doha hosted the Jeem Cup, a major international under-12 football tournament broadcast by Al Jazeera Children’s Channel. Young teams from all over the Arab world came to play in Qatar’s top stadiums, and my job was to document their journey from the opening whistles to the final trophy lift.

02 // Capturing the Action

My camera went everywhere. I photographed the hectic rehearsals for the opening ceremonies, the quiet moments of players preparing in the tunnels, and the fast-paced drama on the pitch. These photos fed our social media channels and news releases, building excitement and filling the stands with local fans.

03 // More Than a Game

Football was only half the story. I followed the young players off the pitch as they visited embassies and cultural spots around Doha. These photos captured kids from completely different backgrounds laughing, sharing stories, and bonding, showing how sport can bring people together in ways words cannot.

04 // The World Cup Legacy

The work did not end when the tournament wrapped up. The photos and social media insights we gathered were handed over to the Supreme Committee’s “Generation Amazing” programme. This data helped shape the community outreach plans and fan experiences used years later during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
