NOMAD Coffee barista, Doha, Qatar, Msheireb

Co-founding and scaling a community-driven speciality coffee brand. From building the visual identity to launching a home-delivery service during global lockdowns, I led the creative and operational strategy that turned a lean startup into a local fixture.

01 // The Experiment

In 2019, we started NOMAD Coffee as a simple experiment to bring people together over great coffee. As co-founder, I had my hands in everything: managing daily logistics, building our first website, and designing the visual identity from the ground up.

02 // Standing Out

We were entering a crowded space full of massive coffee chains. Since we had a tiny startup budget, we couldn’t rely on expensive advertising. Our only option was to stand out by telling a real, honest story that connected with the local community.

03 // Pure Transparency

I focused our online presence on complete transparency: showing where our beans came from and how we worked. That genuine focus on quality earned us massive organic reach. It even led to an unexpected visit and endorsement from Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, which instantly gave our young brand serious credibility.

04 // The Lockdown Pivot

When the 2020 lockdowns hit, our physical cafe had to close overnight. I had to pivot quickly. I built an online shop, set up local delivery routes, and turned NOMAD into a direct-to-consumer business. This kept the lights on during the pandemic and created a lasting, highly profitable new part of our business.

05 // The Lesson

A loyal community is the strongest protection a business can have. By combining hands-on local management with authentic storytelling, we built a brand resilient enough to survive massive market shocks and remain a fixture in people’s daily lives.
