Documenting the launch of Qatar’s national precision medicine initiative. I captured the transition from global scientific debates to a fully active medical facility, building a professional photo library used for key funding proposals and national health campaigns.

01 // The Big Picture

Qatar Biobank is the foundation of the country’s move towards personalised medicine. I was brought on to capture this shift visually, documenting everything from their very first international conference to the opening of their massive new facility in Hamad Medical City.

02 // The Conference

I started at the inaugural conference inside the Qatar National Convention Centre. It was a massive space filled with global experts debating genomics and big data. My job was to capture that energy and focus: the quick conversations in corridors, the packed lecture halls, and the real sense that something big was starting.

03 // The Facility

Next, I moved to the actual facility. I used detailed interior photography and drone shots to document the labs and the high-tech sample storage rooms. Rather than just taking cold, empty room shots, I focused on showing the actual scale and capability of the equipment that makes the Qatar Genome Project possible.

04 // The Launch

I also photographed the official opening ceremony, which was attended by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and other national leaders. Capturing these moments was about more than just political PR: it showed the exact moment where world-class science gained full backing from the state.

These photographs became a core part of how Qatar Foundation shares its progress. Today, these images are used in everything from global research proposals to daily news updates, serving as clear, visual proof of the country’s pioneering work in genetics.
