A photographic journey across the strait that divides two continents. By capturing the sacred light of Sultanahmet’s ancient monuments, the busy energy of the Grand Bazaar, and the daily ferry crossings of the Bosphorus, I documented a city that refuses to stand still.

The Bosphorus is the physical and spiritual heart of Istanbul, separating Europe and Asia while constantly pulling them together. I spent days riding the local public ferries, experiencing the cold wind, the screeching seagulls, and the silent silhouettes of commuters looking out toward the city skyline.

In Sultanahmet, the skyline is dominated by the massive domes and towering minarets of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. I woke up before dawn to catch the first light hitting the ancient stone walls.

Moving away from the quiet mosques, I plunged into the Grand Bazaar. This massive, covered labyrinth of thousands of shops is a sensory overload of colour, noise, and constant movement.

Istanbul is defined by its ability to hold the weight of centuries of history while moving forward at a relentless pace. This collection is an exploration of that constant movement. By pairing the slow, timeless beauty of the historic monuments with the fast-paced, modern energy of its streets, the photographs tell the story of a city that bridges worlds and eras without ever losing its balance.
